Before getting your hands on the steering wheel in the UAE, you must make yourself aware of certain traffic rules strictly followed in the country. Failing to get yourself acquainted with these rules can have adverse effects on your license or vehicle.

Therefore, if you have a driver’s license in the UAE, equipping yourself with the regulation ad and rules followed in the country will be in your benefit when you are seated in the driver’s seat. In case you fail to do so, you should be prepared to face a suspension of your license or the confiscation of your vehicle as a result of not abiding by the certain rules followed in UAE.

The following is a summary of some of the traffic offenses that could cost you to lose your driver’s license:

In the UAE, a driver is charged with black points in case he is involved in an offense like speeding, reckless driving, and parking fines etc. In case a driver gets more than 24 black points, he will be permanently banned from driving in the UAE, regardless of the kind of vehicle he drives.

Similarly, if a person is found driving any vehicle under the influence of illicit substances or drugs, his license will be suspended.

The following is a guide to traffic violations and fines for motorists that could result in the cancellation of their driver’s license in Dubai:

(Violations=Offence)

1- Driver is found driving under the influence of an illicit substance or alcohol = the individual’s license is suspended from the day to his conviction till the completion of punishment.

2- The driver is driving a heavy automobile in a manner that proves to be a nuisance to others/puts others in danger/any way that could endanger others and his own life = The individual’s license is suspended for a time period of around 1 year.

3- Individual is found driving in such a manner that causes harm or destruction to private and/or public property = the individual’s license is suspended for a period of one year.

4- In case a heavy vehicle does not stop at a red light = the offense will lead to the 1 year’s suspension of the driving license.

5-The driver of a heavy vehicle causes his or someone else’s vehicle to overturn = the driver’s license will be suspended for around 1 year.
